Word Tamer

Songwriters have long struggled with the power of words.  Here are just a few examples:
  • In the soulful ballad More Than Words, Extreme wishes to express love in a more powerful way than just using words...
  • Cameo laments in their famous Word Up, that "no matter where you say it, you know that you'll be heard"
  • Alicia Keys has said that she was "a prisoner of words unsaid"
  • "The words get in the way," for Gloria Estefan.
  • In Surfin' Bird, the Trashmen are trying to... well... I'm not really sure why Bird is the Word... or why that's important for me to know...  It's still a fun song though...
But I digress...

Perhaps if these songwriters had been using Word Tamer their struggles would have disappeared!

Word Tamer is a website that lets students approach words like a lion tamer!  Students can Prowl through Plot, encounter Wild Words, Capture a Character, Grapple with Genre, and Snare a Setting!  The sight gives guidance and interactivity in certain areas, then gives the student a chance to write on their own.  The writing a student creates can be saved as a text file that can easily be copied and pasted into a Google Doc or Microsoft Word.
