Flippity.net: more than just flashcards!

Flippity.net is a simple online flashcard maker that uses a google spreadsheet of information -- a vocab list, important historical figures, science definitions, etc.-- and transforms it into flashcards. But recently they've added other great tools and activities that can be used with the class as a whole or individually by students.

One of my favorites is the Random Name Picker. I actually use it for randomly selecting teams or groups more often than for selecting an individual student. You can instantly come up with groups of 3, 4, 5, etc. or however many teams you need. I also use it as a Vocab selection tool, entering vocabulary words instead of student names. Create smaller vocab lists and assign them to various groups or play a Password style game show by displaying a word on the screen and have half the class sit with their back to the screen while their partner gives them clues for that word.

And now there's a Flippity Add-on for Chrome, making it even easier to create activities.  Just open a spreadsheet and go to add-ons > flippity to choose your template.
