Google Research Tool

The Google Research Tool is a must see! I just learned about this tool and decided to search for some interesting facts about Thanksgiving then and now.
Once I created a document in Drive, I simply typed in the word “Thanksgiving” and clicked on Tools>Research from the taskbar at the top of my document. A Google search box opened to the right of the document. I selected the History.com link from the list of options and found some interesting facts about Thanksgiving then and now. I inserted a link to this site, clicked on the word cite, and a citation was added to the bottom of the page. I then used the dropdown box in the Google search section and looked for images and quotes. When I inserted the image and quotes, they were automatically cited at the bottom of the page. There is also a dictionary option if your students need that support as they are doing their research. Now, if you are working with younger students, you may still prefer doing your research with links that offer resources that are more aligned with your students’ reading level and/or the text can be read to your students such as: World Book Online—Kids. This Google Research Tool does appear to be a quick and safe way to have even our youngest students add images to their documents. It also models the importance of giving credit to the owner of these images. Here is a link that will give you more details about how to use this tool: Google Research Tool Enjoy!
