Google sure does like to change things, and the recent updates to Google Forms are a definite upgrade! Forms has had a new look for sometime now, but some of the new features go well beyond aesthetic, and may make you want to revisit Google Forms as a technology tool for your classroom.
In my opinion, the best new feature is the option to turn your Google Forms directly into quizzes!!! Many of you have used Google Forms to collect data from students and teachers, and some of you have even given and graded quizzes using the Flubaroo Add-on, but now you can create quizzes within Google Forms without any add-ons or special codes. All you have to do is create your questions, just like you did before, turn on the quiz functionality, and set your answer key.
Here's how you can create your very own quiz:
Start by going to Google Drive and Creating a new Google Form
Name your form and start adding questions. There are different types of questions and you can even embed images into your questions:
To turn these questions into a quiz, click the "Gear" next to the "SEND" button and choose the "QUIZZES" tab:
Click the "Make this a quiz" button and explore your options:
When you return back to your questions your will see an "ANSWER KEY" button at the bottom of each question:
Click the "ANSWER KEY" button. Choose the correct answer, and give the question a point value:
You can even give feedback to correct and incorrect answers:
To share the quiz with students, click the "SHARE" button and choose the link symbol in the center and you can share this link via Google Classroom or a webpage:
And once students have taken the quiz, you can see the results visually by clicking "RESPONSES" or in a spreadsheet, by clicking the green spreadsheet button:
If you need any assistance ask your friendly neighborhood ITRT! They'd be glad to help, and they might even have some of their own tips and tricks to share with you!
