Google Hodgepodge

I recently attended at technology conference in North Carolina.  One of the sessions I attended was called Google Hodgepodge.  The session was loaded with such good information, I couldn't wait to share it!  Here are just a few highlights.

Google Keep- Google Keep is a multipurpose tool for note-taking and list-making.  All notes are shareable.  What I did not realize is that you can sync your notes to your Google Calendar or ask Keep to remind you about a note at a certain time or location.  Keep also has the option for both audio notes and voice to text, making in a great accessibility tool.  Notes from Keep can now be opened while working in Docs (Tools>Keep Notepad)!  If students used Keep for content vocabulary or research notes, they would be able to easily see these while composing in Docs.

Google Drawings- Love Publisher?  Google Drawings has similar capabilities.  You can use it to create graphs and charts, label images, or create infographics.  A great idea shared was creating a collaborative sticky board that could be shared with Classroom.
Google Calendar has an appointment slot feature.  You could use this to schedule your next round of parent or student conferences.

Google Maps Smarty Pins is a a fun map trivia game where players answer questions by dropping pins on a map.  The closer your pin is to the answer, the more points you get.

Want to improve your students' research skills in a fun way?  Try a Google a Day.  This game ask students to research the answer to three questions.  Point are given based on accuracy and quickness.

These are just a few highlight from the session.  To read all tips and resources, check out the Google Hodgepodge page.

Need help using any of these resources, just ask your friendly ITRT!
